INVERNESS COURIER COMMENT – STEWART NICOL

Stewart Nicol, Inverness Chamber of Commerce for Inverness Courier Business Comment.

You may have noticed that Inverness Chamber of Commerce launched our Highland Spotlight exhibition last week?  Given the constraints we are all under at the moment, we have decided to innovate by making this a digital event this year.

We have used the opportunity of this virtual event to collaborate with the region’s Chambers of Commerce.  Highland Spotlight, with HNM as Media Partners, will take place on 22nd September and is being delivered in association with Cairngorms; Caithness; Lochaber, Moray and Outer Hebrides Chambers of Commerce.  In doing so, we have ensured businesses from across the Highlands & Islands and Moray will be able to easily participate in the region’s only Business to Business Exhibition.

As we have connected, supported and represented our members and the wider business community we have had strong feedback that we should move this annual event on-line.  We’ve done a lot of research and are investing in a great platform which allow businesses and visitors to fully engage, making new connections and developing business opportunities.  As with the really successful format of previous years, visitors will be able to move around the exhibition space and engage with other attendees.

Highland Spotlight will feature a number of seminars, which has always been a popular aspect of the exhibition format.  We are also using the opportunity, this year, to host the latest in our, ‘In Conversation With’ series of engagement webinars with UK, Scotland and Highland business leaders.  During the exhibition, I will be having a discussion with the chief executive of one of the city and region’s most unique organisations, Eden Court Theatre.  Join me in hearing first-hand from James Mackenzie-Blackman on the challenges he and his team are facing and how they are planning a way through this challenging time.  It will be a great opportunity to hear just how important the physical theatre and their many programmes are to the whole of the Highlands.

Please visit our website for full details and I look forward to meeting you at our event!
